CONFIRMED FOR 2011:

C30: (photo) The C30 gets refreshed styling, and T5 R-Design models now come with a sport-tuned suspension that includes quicker-ratio steering.

C70: (photo) The hardtop convertible gets a facelift, with new front- and rear-end styling and a redesigned instrument panel. The manual transmission option has been dropped, but the C70 gains SIRIUS satellite radio and "Sovereign Hide" leather as standard.

S40: The 168 hp 2.4i model has been discontinued, leaving just the 227 hp turbocharged T5 model. The manual transmission -- re-introduced just last year -- is gone again, as is all-wheel-drive. The option packages have been changed around a bit, and the T5 R-Design model gains a standard moonroof and power passenger's seat.

S60: (photo) After a one-year hiatus, the S60 returns as a completely redesigned car. Volvo will introduce the S60 with a single model, the lavishly-equipped T6 AWD, priced at $38,550. The T6 AWD is powered by a 300 hp turbo inline six, 6-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive; a less-powerful and less-expensive model will follow in 2012. The S60 includes Volvo's City Safety system -- which automatically stops the car to avoid a collision at low speeds -- and is the first Volvo to employ Volvo's Pedestrian Detection system, which uses cameras to detect pedestrians and will stop the car if the driver doesn't take action.

S80: The V8 has been discontinued, but the remaining two engines get a power bump. The 3.2 non-turbo is up 5 HP, rising to 240 hp (230 for the Partial Zero Emission (PZEV) version), while the 3-liter turbo gains 19 hp (to 300) and 30 lb-ft of torque (to 325). The self-leveling suspension is no longer offered, and there are a series of option changes, including the replacement of the Executive Package with the Inscription Package.

V50: The V50 is the wagon version of the S40, and the changes are similar: Deletion of the 2.4i base model, manual transmissions, and all-wheel-drive and revisions to option availability.

V70: Volvo's big wagon has been dropped from the lineup.

XC60: The base model's 3.2 liter inline six gets a 5 hp bump to 240 hp (230 hp in the PZEV version), while the T6's 3-liter turbo engine increases to 300 hp and 325 lb-ft, up 19 hp and 30 lb-ft. The 3.2 model is now available in a racy-looking R-Design version, and other trim levels (3.2, T6, T6 R-Design) get miscellaneous changes in standard and optional equipment.

XC70: The 3.2 model is now available with front-wheel-drive as well as all-wheel-drive. As with other six-cylinder Volvos, the 3.2's engine increases to 240 hp (230 hp in the PZEV version) while the T6's engine increases to 300 hp and 325 lb-ft. Both models gets SIRIUS satellite radio as standard, while the T6 adds a standard moonroof. The Climate Package now includes a blue-band windshield, the Multimedia Package gets a rear-view camera, and the Convenience Package adds a cargo cover and power-folding rear headrests.

XC90: The 3.2 liter engine increases to 240 hp (230 in PZEV form). All models get standard Bluetooth phone connectivity and SIRIUS satellite radio, and the XC90 3.2 gains silver roof rails and "watch dial instrumentation", whatever that is. The Multimedia Package now includes a backup camera, and the V8's optional Executive Package has been replaced by the Luxury Package.

BEYOND 2011:

2012 S60: The S60 T5, with a 250 hp 2.5 liter turbo 5-cylinder and front-wheel-drive, will join the 6-cylinder all-wheel-drive model.
