Test Drive: 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Friday April 30, 2004
crossfire_small.jpg Although the name sounds like it belongs on a spark plug, "Crossfire" hints at the crossover of Mercedes components into Chrysler cars. Which, in spite of the nonsense spouted by some critics about diluting the M-B brand, is nothing less than a great idea. Because Chrysler needs to be different than GM and Ford, and what could be better than an injection of German engineering? Nevertheless the Crossfire is pure Americana in design, as our test driver Colin Hefferon points out in his review. By the way, I loved Colin's reference to the classic Greavette speedboat's boat-tail. If there's one thing that could tear me away from driving a Crossfire, it's a chance to drive a Greavette.
