Test drive: 2005 Kia Sportage

Looks like Kia's been bitten with the good-sense bug. While the old Sportage was sort of a dinky trucklet, the new one is a crossover -- part car, part SUV -- and a damn good one at that. The new Sportage may look a wee bit like the old one, but this one rides and drives like a car (as opposed to the old one, which was a buckboard with an attitude problem). Our own BJ Killeen, who is partial to Bentleys and Infinitis, was surprisingly fond of the new Sportage. It has nearly all of the qualities she likes in a man, with one exception: It's OK that the Kia is cheap. Check out her test drive of this brilliant new mini-ute. -- Aaron Gold
