Test drive: 2007 Mazda CX-7
Tuesday April 25, 2006
Hi all! I'm back from the 2007 Mazda CX-7 press event in Washington, DC and have written up my test drive report. All in all, the CX-7 an impressive vehicle. The short version: I like the style, I like the car-like ride and handling, I like the turbocharged engine. I don't like the fuel economy estimates and I'm not wild about the noises coming from under the hood. But what's most interesting to me is that the 2007 Mazda CX-7 isn't trying to be all things to all people. It has a very specific target audience, and that target audience isn't your typical SUV buyer. I'm sure you've all heard the term "niche marketing"; that's what Mazda is up to. The concept is good and the execution is good, and I bet Mazda is going to sell a lot of CX-7s. For the long version, check out my full test drive report. -- Aaron Gold

I just wanted to make a correction to the review. I just got back from test-driving a CX-7 myself. It does so have a centre seat anchor. As a matter of fact there was sticker attached to the point where you mount the tether. Its not convenient, being as its just below where the hatch latches, but its there.
