Test drive: 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550

I guess you could accuse me of saving the almost-best for last, but I promise, that wasn't the plan. First of all, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550 isn't my last 2007 test drive -- it's close, but not quite. Second, despite all the great things that have been said about it, I didn't expect the S-Class to be the best. To me, the S was just another overrated, oversize Mercedes -- at least it was until I spent some quality time with it. You know what? The S550 is pretty darn magnificent. What I like best is that its array of electronic gee-gaws and whiz-bangs isn't just gadgetry for gadgetry's sake. No, this stuff is really useful in everyday real-world driving.
