Audi to launch diesel-powered A4 in the US
It's official: Audi is bringing diesel cars to the US -- first a TDI version of the Q7 SUV, and then a diesel-powered A4. Both vehicles will use a 3.0 liter V6 with common-rail injection that produces 240 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. And -- here's the best bit -- the 3.0 TDI will be LEV II Bin 5 compliant. In English, that means it will be legal for sale in all 50 states.
Audi hasn't announced an on-sale date, only that production (presumably for the Q7) will begin "as early as next year". Keep your fingers crossed... -- Aaron Gold

HOORAY! Now if only they can put a diesel in one of their volkswagen division cars, maybe I could afford one. It’s ironic that most diesels find themselves in cars that mostly the wealthy can afford and most of them have disdain for “dirty diesels” or unimportant things like mpg. If I was in auto mgmt. I would have a diesel option in almost every base model. But then that might be why I’m not in auto mgmt.
