Toyota has announced that a 5-door hatchback will join the Yaris lineup in the US for 2009. The 5-door Yaris shares its size, styling and interior with the 3-door Yaris Liftback. (The Yaris sedan is significantly longer and has a unique dashboard design.) Clearly, Toyota has their sights on Honda's new-for-2009 Fit -- and I'm sure that Chevy's new 2009 Aveo5 hatchback isn't lost on them, either. (Speaking of which, I'll be posting a review of the 2009 Aveo5 tomorrow.)
Not only do I have pictures of the 2009 Toyota Yaris 5-door, I also have a couple reviews, sort of. Toyota introduced the 5-door Yaris in Canada in 2007, and our now-retired Canadian crew reviewed two of them -- check out Colin Hefferon's test drive of the Yaris 5-door base model and Philip Powell's review of the Yaris RS. -- Aaron Gold

I’m definitely excited to see more of this car.
Like the Fit, this is a sharp, practical, fun little car that’s affordable to own and a car NOT to be ashamed of, in this world rapidly becoming more practical. On top of that, you’ve got Toyota reliability and resale…it’s a real winner!
Yes! I hate two door cars but I really like this car. My prayer’s have been answered. Now I think I will buy this car.
