First impressions: 2010 Subaru Legacy
I'm in Seattle (again!) and have just driven the 2010 Legacy, the all-new version of Subaru's all-wheel-drive mid-size sedan. Subaru has made some smart mid-size changes like expanding the back seat and trunk, but more importantly, they've rearranged the pricing to make the Legacy more competitive with cars like the Honda Accord, Chevrolet Malibu, and my favorite, the Mazda6. That's a bigger deal than it sounds, because the Legacy has one thing all those cars lack: Standard all-wheel-drive. Most people equate AWD with bad weather, but the truth is that AWD is useful even in places where the sun shines all the time -- like where I live. Also new and notable: A continuously variable automatic transmission for 2.5i models that helps wring maximum power out of the base (170 hp) engine and promises amazing fuel economy.
I'll have a full test drive and lots of photos ready to go first thing Monday morning. Meanwhile, check out these reviews of the outgoing Legacy:

Great, now it looks almost like everything else on the market.
I love Subarus…the way they perform and the way they last. Their appearance has always been pedestrian at best(except for the SVX) and this new version is no exception. Basically, it seems pretty mundane…to me. What will make this car succeed will be its cost and gas mileage, both of which in recent years have been high and low…in that order.
Does it still have frameless windows or have they (please!) moved to fully framed doors?
Looks like another anonycar to me.
